In-society projects to learn “how” to enhance neurodiversity
Overview
Translating neuroscience to improve job recruitment and work environments for neurodiversity
In collaboration with the special subsidiaries of the Sony Group*, we conducted a pilot project to develop a special internship program to recruit individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Because some individuals with ASD have difficulty communicating verbally, they may not be able to express their strengths through typical job interviews. In our internship program, a candidate goes through a series of mock tasks to demonstrate his or her skills and aptitudes. As in this example, we aim to obtain and translate neuroscientific evidence to improve recruitment and working environments to better accommodate individuals with various neural dispositions including ASD.
