Traumatic memories can prevent us from encountering similar threatening situations in the future. However, those memories could bring us excessive fear and anxiety, interfering with our daily activities. We aim to develop effective interventions to alleviate traumatic memories and excessive anxiety such as fMRI neurofeedback, virtual reality (VR) and embodied training with a motion-tracking system.

What is it in our brain that makes us to anxious? We combine various neuroimaging techniques such as 3T-fMRI/MRS, 7T-fMRI, and EEG to elucidate the mechanisms behind anxiety. We simulate ecologically-valid emotional scenarios during neuroimaging experiments to understand our genuine and intrinsic brain functions.

We believe that communities and societies become more robust to resist various socioeconomic challenges by including individuals with diverse neural dispositions. We build a scientific approach to accumulate evidence for the benefits of neurodiverse communities and conduct in-society projects to better accommodate neurodiverse populations.
